Second day of the week developing my collages:
From developing our ideas on Monday, we decided the specific subject of our project is to look at the female form and abstract it, minimalise it. Look at what is beautiful about the female form, how media is used to change the perception of the form, contours of the skin - how skin is shown through different mediums, and what shapes need to show the viewer the female form?....
Summarising these points we are going to focus on... What is the least amount of visual information the audience needs to represent the female form whilst still keeping the basic principals of the media used?
Here are a some of the collages I worked on developing from Monday. I really think the composition of using the legs and arms make visually exciting imagery so I carried on with this, using more flowers in the composition too with flashes of colour. These 5 collages I think work work really well together. I focused on placement of the pieces on the page paying attention to the white space.
Here are Rachel's paintings that she has been working on... Even though she first looked at tonal watercolours on the body, we thought that actually the simple black lines work better for the project.
Near the start of the project we thought that we would present some of our works side by side for the 'pop-up show' on friday, but maybe there is a more creative way to respond the project? Rachel suggested making a 'zine' or little book presenting the collection of works we've made side by side, then you can see how they work together. I then thought that if we put quotes that we noted down from our recorded dialogue on the front cover and our project summary on the back it would bring the work and project together even more. Rachel then needed to repaint her images to put into the book, so I used photoshop to create the covers. We will meet on thursday to make the book...
